Minimalism, Excerpt, Actionable, Noteworthy
Feb. 17, 2023
I hope you enjoy it! (and learn something)
Minimalism:
My mama got me all wrong.
She calls me “si tapon” because I’ve been discarding a lot of my things in the last few months.
Little does she know that what I do is more than that.
Minimalism isn't just about decluttering and giving up your stuff.
For me, it’s about creating a life that values experiences over possessions.
With less stuff surrounding me, I get to reduce stress, save money, and focus on what truly matters.
So whatever people say, just keep on going.
If all you need is a good book, a nice mattress, and your pet in your room, go!
Excerpt:
I’ve been gaga over The Last of Us for the past few weeks.
If you’re not familiar, it’s a game—AN AMAZING ONE.
Fun fact: There’s already a live-action adaptation airing on HBO. But if you’re a fan, you should know it already.
As for me, I haven’t watched it yet.
So this line is from one of the cutscenes of the game.
“After all we’ve been through. Everything that I’ve done. It can’t be for nothing”
(For context: They’re on a mission to save humanity from the infected. You know, some normal people stuff.)
Now tell me if you agree. That line is a reminder that even when things are demanding and seem impossible, we have to keep trying.
We can’t just stop because what’s at stake is bigger than us.
If that’s not heroic, I don’t know what is. Agree? Okay well guess what.
That doesn’t have to be true for you.
You’re not a hero saving humanity.
Sometimes you can just lose, fall flat, and watch your efforts burn.
It will hurt like hell and there will be no lessons at all.
But the thing is, there’s also no pressure. There is no epiphany but there’s also no blames.
You just fail.
No need to do anything—but that doesn’t mean you’ll stop.
It just means you get to try again.
Take note: failing doesn’t make you a failure. (Unless you’re killed by zombies).
Actionable:
Let’s be a little cheeky this week. Here’s what you can do.
Ready? Here we go…
NOTHING.
Yes. For 5-10 mins, do nothing.
No phone, no laptop, no talking or reading. Just breathe and be bored.
Why?
Because breakthroughs come from nothing.
Everybody wants to adapt to this fast-paced world. Trying to keep up every single day.
But sometimes we don’t need to try so hard to figure things out.
Noteworthy:
Now this one is a different kind of doing nothing.
You have this see this website because this is the coolest one I’ve ever seen!
All it does is give you fun and interesting stuff: Neal.fun
I bet you'd want to open the next activity after the other. And that’s enough said.
I won’t try to explain it.
Just go visit it. (Try ‘where does the day go’)
See you at the next one,
Johnrille
Ganda nung excerpt on the Last of Us! Definitely taking this as I go through the very very very fast February
